Our dad ran an auto-body shop in Inglewood for 31 years. He could buff out a swirl mark with his eyes closed. He taught us two things: a car is the most expensive thing most people own, and the people who touch it should treat it like that.
In 2014 we were both detailing on the side — Marco part-time after his bartending shift, Rafael on weekends between college classes. The shops we kept seeing in LA were either overpriced concierge places that cost $800 for a wash, or franchise chains that left swirl marks on Day 1. There was nothing for the regular driver who just wanted their car done right.
We rented a 1-car garage on Bundy Drive. $1,400/mo. No sign. Word-of-mouth only. We did 11 cars our first month. Our prices were lower than they should have been, and our hours were 7AM to 11PM. Six months in we were doing 40 cars a month. By month 12 we had our first hire and a 3-bay shop.
The detailing business in LA was broken in three specific ways: prices were a mystery, the only way to book was a phone call, and nobody could show you what they could actually do for your car. So we fixed those three things.
We put every price online in 2017. We launched online booking in 2019. We started posting before/afters of every customer car we did — not just the Ferraris — in 2020. Sales 5x'd in two years. Not because of marketing. Because customers liked being treated like adults.

We still detail cars ourselves on Saturdays. Our dad still calls every Sunday to ask how the week went.
